Harbour Scene

Mark Noble

“Depression impacts my work: the mood feels utter spare. When suffering depression I use more grey and black to reflect the mood I am in. I use canvas as a visual language through my art.

My art is about the journey through depression and coming through the other side. Art is a very important tool for me.

Cutbacks in the arts has had a profound impact on people's well-being and their mental health and and has let despair take over. People have now, however, started realising the full impact of what's happening. As an artist it's really important to reflect what’s happening with art and mental health

This composition shows a fishing scene. It's more about recovery and hope. Hope for recovery from depression is shown by the sun rising in the sky. I've used bright colour, full of happiness and pleasure. There is hope for the future."
